Howdy all!
Lots to talk about here. We had a super busy weekend!! Simultaneously Bev tabled at Boxelder Community Room next door to The Comet for the Mayday event, while Josh tabled at Soughtgate House Revival for Sappha & Wes Parker. Both gigs were killer and started our month off hot with 28 doses of Naloxone being handed out. Thanks to everyone that supported us Friday. We were able to donate $150 of our funds to the National Immigrant Justice Center as well.
Saturday was a well deserved chill evening and Kelley and I watched the Kneecap movie. “No one is anyone until they are.”
Sunday (5/3) was a double header day. First I tabled at the Mainstrasse Neighborhood Block Party presented by ROMA. They unveiled the newest mural painted by local artist, Bret Schulte. It is crazy sick. Go see if for yourself in the alley behind CEDAR. I met a lot of cool neighbors and it was a lot of fun. Shout out Therin & Missy for having us! Thhheeeennnnnnn I needed to pack up and get to Southgate House Revival for Adjust the Sails/Thoughts On Bowling/Tiny Voices/Latchkey Kids. Kelley joined for me this one after work and this gig was NUTS. The Revival Room was sold out this night. 150 folks paid for this gig. Really wild. We had a lot of engagement this show. The crowd age ranges were all of the place. It was really cool to see some younger people excited about music and engaging in their community, reminded me of going to shows as a young teenager and just being so stoked and thinking everything was so cool. Kelley and I’s favorite set of the night was from Latchkey Kids. They were very tight and stoked that they are coming back in a few weeks. A few months ago we were able to meet Shane from Adjust The Sails and we had gave him their own STHR box to display w their merch while on tour. It was good to see him again and be able to refill his box. It’s so rad that Shane loves what we do, he gave us a great shout out on stage encouraging folks to check out our table before they left that night (which they did). We gave out more Plan B than we have at any other show this year and we handed out a total of 34 doses of naloxone that night. Currently for May we are already totaling 66 doses of naloxone. Increasing volunteer presence and being able to add more shows per month has been immensely helpful and beneficial.
This weekend is just as busy! Friday we’re at MOTR for Year of October (TN), Space Chaise Lounge, Twiggy Void <—FREE GIG. Saturday, catch Sean at The Hellmann Center for the “Blue Together” event-supporting mental health. Find Bev at Moto Federation Garage for Bands & Bikes. We were invited by our homies in Dust By Monday for this one! And find our Lexington volunteer, Dani at Al’s Bar in Lexington for 859 Fest! Kentucky forever. Let’s gooooo.
